The Bitter End is a brewpub on Kirkgate in the middle of Cockermouth, brewing its own beer in a little brewery out the back and pouring it at the bar alongside guest ales. One of the town’s independent stalwarts, and a good stop after a wander round Wordsworth’s birthplace. Maryport, about 10km north-west, is the nearest station.
