St Bega’s stands on its own by the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake, a fair walk from the nearest road and all the better for it. Walkers who find it are met by Bibles laid out in dozens of languages. Ospreys have nested on the lake since 2001 — you can watch them by live camera over at Whinlatter Forest. Mirehouse is close by along the shore.
