Come for lunch among the vines: Crouch Ridge, above the River Crouch at Althorne, runs tours, tastings and afternoon tea looking out over the rows. It sits in the Crouch Valley, the warm, dry pocket of Essex now making some of England’s best still wine. Handily, Althorne station is right beside it, under a kilometre away.
