St Cadoc’s sits squarely inside the old Roman fortress at Caerleon, its tower rising more or less over the centre of the legionary headquarters. Christian worship on the spot is very old, tied to the 6th-century St Cadoc. The Roman amphitheatre and baths are a short walk away, so the church slots into a good half-day around Caerleon. Newport station is about 4km south-west.
