Wentwood is a big block of upland forest between Newport and Chepstow, and one of the largest ancient woodlands in Wales — a surviving remnant of the medieval hunting chase that once covered these hills. Forestry tracks climb to a high point looking out over the Severn estuary. Open access, with car parks off the forest road. Severn Tunnel Junction station is about 8km to the south-east.
