A 17th-century former farmhouse turned country inn at Llantrisant, in the hills west of Usk — not the larger Llantrisant over in Glamorgan. It has rooms, a garden and cooks home-made food alongside local ales, making a quiet rural base. The nearest station, Pontypool & New Inn, is about 10km east.
