Out on its own above Cartmel Fell, St Anthony’s has barely changed in five centuries. Built around 1504 as a chapel of ease to Cartmel Priory, it keeps its old box pews, a three-decker pulpit dated 1698, and fragments of medieval glass in the east window. Worth the detour if you like churches the Victorians left alone. It’s a fair way from anywhere — Grange-over-Sands station is the nearest, about 10km south.
