Gummer’s How is the little rocky top at the southern end of Windermere, sometimes called a mini-mountain because it hands you a summit-sized view for very little effort. From the car park on the Kendal road it’s a steep but short pull to the top, maybe twenty minutes, with the lake laid out below and Morecambe Bay beyond. Open access and free — a good one for families or a quick leg-stretch off a long drive.
