The Swan stands beside the old bridge at Newby Bridge, at the quiet southern foot of Windermere where the lake becomes the River Leven. It’s a large riverside hotel with a garden by the water, food all day and family-friendly rooms. The Lakeside & Haverthwaite steam railway runs from close by; Grange-over-Sands is the mainline station, some 9km south-east.
