Come for the terrace: the Masons Arms sits high at Strawberry Bank on Cartmel Fell, looking clean across the Winster valley to the fells. It’s an old inn known for its damson beers and its own-label ales, with food served and cottages and rooms to stay in. A gorgeous spot on a fine day, though you’ll need a car to reach it up the narrow lanes.
