A motte-and-bailey castle once stood here — today it survives as earthworks in Buckinghamshire. The Albion Guide charts ten motte-and-bailey castles in the county; this is one of them. The surrounding countryside is part of the Chilterns National Landscape. For arrivals by rail, Great Missenden Station is 3.7 km to the north-west.
