Harlech Beach
Local highlightHuge dune-backed sands below the castle.
Below Harlech’s castle a huge sweep of dune-backed sand runs north as part of the Morfa Harlech nature reserve — land that has grown out into the bay since the sea once reached the castle rock itself. Wide and quiet even in high summer, with the Llŷn across the water and the Rhinogydd behind. Harlech station sits just below the dunes.
