Mossy woodland fall into a green pool.
Janet’s Foss is a mossy little waterfall near Malham, where Gordale Beck slips over a tufa lip into a deep green pool — named for Janet, a fairy queen said to live in the cave behind the fall. The pool was once used for washing sheep, a village event in its day. An easy, popular footpath leads in from Malham through woodland, often busy and muddy in patches. Hellifield station is around 9km to the south-west.
