Titchmarsh is worth a stop for its church tower. St Mary carries a soaring late-medieval tower over 100 feet high, once called the finest parish tower in England outside Somerset. It was raised under Lord Lovell, chamberlain to Richard III, whose manor stood here. The estate village below has a riverside nature reserve on the Nene, and Wadenhoe lies just downstream.
