Strathyre is a forest-flanked village in the pass between Callander and Lochearnhead, close to Loch Lubnaig. It grew up along the old Callander and Oban railway, whose trackbed now carries a walking and cycling route — part of the Rob Roy Way — running right through the village. Wooded hills close in on both sides.
