A quiet village on the east side of Kintyre, Skipness looks across the water to Arran. It has a substantial 13th-century castle you can wander round for free, and, in season, the Skipness Seafood Cabin - a much-loved shack serving local langoustines and oysters by the shore. The end of the B8001, and well worth the detour off the A83.
