The Twelve Apostles line the shore at Catacol Bay — a terrace of whitewashed cottages from the 1860s, each given a differently shaped upstairs window so fishermen out in the bay could tell which was theirs. The bay itself is pebbly and wild, on Arran’s north-west coast road up from Brodick.
