The Twelve Apostles are the reason to stop at Catacol: a terrace of whitewashed cottages built in the 1860s, each given a differently shaped upstairs window so fishermen out in the bay could pick out their own home. The tiny hamlet sits on Arran’s north-west shore, a short run up the coast road from the Brodick ferry.
