Rottingdean is a coastal village just east of Brighton, set back in a gap in the chalk cliffs. It has a windmill on the hill above, an old high street around a pond, and links to Rudyard Kipling, who lived here for a few years before moving to Bateman’s at Burwash. Moulsecoomb is the nearest station, about 5km inland.
