Ravenglass is the only coastal settlement inside the Lake District National Park, a single street ending at the shingle of the estuary where the Esk, Mite and Irt all meet. Just outside the village stand the walls of a Roman bath-house, Walls Castle, among the largest surviving Roman remains in northern England. It’s also the seaward terminus of the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway up to Boot. The station is on the Cumbrian Coast line.
