Pavenham strings along the Great Ouse north-west of Bedford, a quiet village of limestone cottages with the river close at hand and long riverside walks in both directions. There is little to it beyond the church and the water, which is the appeal. Neighbouring Felmersham and its cathedral-like church are a short way upstream.
