Felmersham’s great draw is its church: St Mary’s, a cathedral-like Early English building of the 1220s standing over the Great Ouse. The stone village around it runs down to the river, where old gravel pits are now a nature reserve good for birds. It is a quiet spot, with the nearest station, Bedford, a fair way off to the south-east.
