Lytham is the genteel end of the Fylde coast, quite separate in character from Blackpool up the road. A white windmill stands on the green beside a wide, grassy seafront, and behind the town sits Lytham Hall, a handsome Georgian house designed by John Carr of York in the 1750s and open to visitors. There’s good independent shopping and a relaxed, old-fashioned seaside feel. Lytham station is right in the middle of town.
