Lochinver is the busy hub of Assynt — a working fishing harbour and the main village for miles, set on a sea loch beneath the unmistakable dome of Suilven rising inland. There’s a decent range of shops, places to stay, and a much-loved pie shop. From the A837 it’s also the start of the wonderful, very twisty coast road north through Achmelvich and Clachtoll.
