Out on the Coigach peninsula at Altandhu, the Summer Isles Smokehouse has long been known for its smoked salmon, venison and eel, with the curing rooms open for a look at how it’s done. It’s a fair drive on single-track roads and tends to run seasonally, so it’s worth checking ahead. The Summer Isles themselves lie just offshore.
