Llandeilo is a hilltop market town of pastel-painted Georgian houses above the River Tywi, in some of the greenest country in Carmarthenshire. A single great stone arch carries the road bridge over the river below the town, said to have been the longest single-span stone bridge in Wales when it opened in 1848. On the edge of town is Dinefwr, a National Trust park with a ruined castle, an old deer herd and rare White Park cattle. The station is a short walk east.
