Kentmere lies at the head of a quiet dale north of Staveley, a scatter of farms below the fine ridge walk known as the Kentmere Horseshoe. The little church of St Cuthbert sits at the centre, and nearby Kentmere Hall keeps its medieval pele tower. There’s no shop or pub, so come prepared; Staveley station is about four miles down the valley.
