St Anne’s is an unusually grand church for so small a place as Ings, the little village between Staveley and Windermere. It was paid for in the 18th century by a local man who’d made his fortune, and its floor is laid with black-and-white marble. A quick and worthwhile look if you’re passing on the A591. Open and free.
