A red sandstone bridge of eight arches crosses the Dee at Holt, linking the Welsh side to Farndon in England — medieval, and still crossed single-file. The village has the scant ruins of a castle and grew as a small market town on the border. Wrexham Central station is roughly 9km to the south-west.
