The bells of All Saints’ Church are counted among the Seven Wonders of Wales, and Gresford grew up around it just north of Wrexham. The village is also remembered for the 1934 colliery disaster, when an underground explosion and fire killed 261 men, most of them never brought out. Gwersyllt station is about 3km south-west.
