Wrexham Lager lays claim to being the first lager brewery in Britain, founded here in 1881 by brewers who brought the cold-fermenting Continental method to a town of ale drinkers. The original firm closed in 2000, but the name was revived in 2011 and brews in Wrexham again. It runs brewery tours and a visitor bar — worth booking ahead. Wrexham Central station is just to the west.
