The Overton yews are one of the Seven Wonders of Wales — a ring of ancient yew trees around the churchyard of St Mary’s, in the Maelor village of Overton-on-Dee. Some of them are reckoned to be very old indeed. The church itself is a solid medieval parish building, and both church and yews are open to wander. Ruabon station is about 8km to the west.
