The Cat & Lion is a 17th-century former coaching inn at Stretton, just south of Warrington, with low beams and open fires inside. These days it’s a roomy, family-friendly dining pub, more an easy stop off the A49 than a walkers’ destination. Worth knowing if you’re passing through the northern edge of Cheshire and want a decent sit-down meal.
