Harleston is a Georgian market town in the Waveney valley, its main streets lined with elegant brick and plastered fronts behind which sit far older timber-framed buildings. It has been voted Norfolk Town of the Year more than once. Market day is still Wednesday, as it has been for centuries. Diss and its station are about twelve kilometres west.
