Forres regularly wins Britain in Bloom, and its parks and flower displays are reason enough to stop. On the eastern edge of the town stands Sueno’s Stone, a 6.5-metre Pictish cross-slab carved with ranks of warriors, the tallest of its kind in Scotland and now protected under glass. The station is on the Aberdeen–Inverness line, and the beach village of Findhorn is just to the north.
