Flash claims to be the highest village in England, sitting at around 1,518 feet on windswept gritstone moor. It’s a scatter of stone houses near Three Shires Head, where Staffordshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire meet at a packhorse bridge over the young River Dane. Bring layers — it’s exposed up here. Buxton station is about 7km to the north-east.
