Filey keeps a genteel, old-fashioned air, with a long crescent of firm sand running for around five miles between Filey Brigg and Flamborough Head. The Brigg — a narrow rocky finger reaching into the sea — is good for rock-pooling at low water and a bracing walk out to the point. The station sits just back from the front. Brasher, busier Scarborough is a short way up the coast.
