Anne Brontë is buried in the churchyard of St Mary’s, high above Scarborough’s old town just below the castle. She died in the town in 1849, aged 29, and was laid to rest here rather than back at Haworth. The church itself is 12th-century in origin and worth a look on the climb up. Scarborough station is about a kilometre away, so it’s an easy walk from the train.
