Cleadale is a crofting township on the north-west side of Eigg, its houses spread below the dark cliffs of Beinn Bhuidhe. Just downhill lie the Singing Sands, a beach that squeaks underfoot when the sand is dry. Eigg is a CalMac ferry from Mallaig, landing at Galmisdale pier at the other end of the island; most visitors come as foot passengers and get about on foot or by bike.
