A quartz beach at Camas Sgiotaig, below the crofting township of Cleadale on the island of Eigg. The name comes from the dry sand, which squeaks and hums underfoot when conditions are right. It’s a lovely spot looking across to the Isle of Rum. Reaching it means the CalMac ferry to Eigg and then a walk from Cleadale, so it’s a proper day out rather than a quick stop.
