Kilmory Bay is a fine white-sand beach at Rum’s north end, looking across to the Skye Cuillin. Behind it sits the long-running red-deer research station — Rum’s deer have been studied here for decades — so the glen is sometimes closed to walkers during the autumn rut. It’s a track walk of several miles from Kinloch, where the CalMac ferry from Mallaig lands; another walk out from Kinloch reaches the Bullough Mausoleum.
