On Eigg, the ruined Kildonnan Chapel stands on the site of an early monastery, with carved crosses and an old burial ground looking out over the shore. The name means the church of St Donan, the island’s patron. Reaching it means the CalMac ferry to Eigg from Mallaig, then a walk down through the crofts.
