Castle Ashby is a model estate village of golden ironstone, built to serve Castle Ashby House, the seat of the Marquess of Northampton. Neat cottages stand near a green and a church with Saxon roots. The house itself isn’t generally open, but its gardens — Victorian terraces and a formal Italian garden among them — are open through the year. Wellingborough station is about 10km to the north-east.
