Bodiam is a small village in the Rother valley, known above all for its castle — a near-perfect moated medieval shell built in the 1380s by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge and now run by the National Trust. The Kent & East Sussex heritage railway has its terminus by the river here. Robertsbridge is the nearest mainline station, about 5km to the west.
