Aldbourne cast church bells for the best part of two centuries. The Cor brothers set up a foundry here around 1694, and Robert Wells ran a busy works at Bell Court on the green from 1760 until the trade faded in the 1800s. The downland village still gathers around its green and pond, with St Michael’s church above. Hungerford station is about 10km south-east.
