Volunteers cut this horse on Roundway Hill in 1999 to mark the millennium, which makes it the youngest of the Wiltshire horses and the only one that faces right. An earlier Devizes horse, cut by the town’s shoemakers in 1845 and nicknamed the Snob’s Horse, stood elsewhere on the hill and grew over long ago. The present one looks down from Roundway Hill, on the western edge of the North Wessex Downs.
