Wadworth has brewed in Devizes since 1875 and is the home of 6X, its best-known bitter. The landmark red-brick Northgate tower brewery still stands in the middle of town, and for well over a century Wadworth’s shire-horse drays delivered casks to local pubs. There’s a visitor centre with tours (charged), where you can also see the sign-painting workshop and the horses. Melksham station is about 12km to the west.
