The Caiplie Caves sit on the shore roughly halfway along the Fife Coastal Path between Crail and Anstruther. Wind and sea have hollowed the sandstone into open chambers that early Christian pilgrims used for worship, and you can still make out crosses scratched into the rock. There’s no road down to them — the only way in is on foot, about an hour’s walk from either village, so wear decent shoes and pick a dryish day.
