A lintel over the door dates the Tolcarne Inn to 1717. It sits behind the sea wall in the fishing port of Newlyn, and since 2012 has been run by chef Ben Tunnicliffe, who built its name on the day’s catch landed a few yards away. Small and seafood-led, it’s about 2km along the front from Penzance station.
