A sheltered west-facing garden near Penzance where tender things thrive that would die most other places in Britain, from tree ferns to magnolias raised from some of the first seed sent home from the Himalayas. The walled kitchen gardens are built on a slant to catch the sun, their beds said to follow the dimensions of Noah’s Ark. Given to the National Trust by the Bolitho family. Penzance station is about 3km east.
